Joseph Forde, a graduate of NUIG, OU and ICHAS, has over twenty years experience in adult education, childcare management, community education and project management.  He holds post graduate qualifications in education and education research and holds an Honours Masters’ Degree in Child and Adolescent Development.  He has also completed several research projects and is published within these subject and experiential domains. The influence of consumerism places significant pressures on parents in contemporary society to live up to an idealized version of parenthood. This paper will discuss the notion of being a ‘good enough parent’.
