Meet our Board Members

As volunteers, we dedicate our free time to the Limerick Mental Health Association and we are all passionate about helping others to remain well and maintain positive mental health.

Dr. Lisa O'Rourke Scott
Chair

Dr. Lisa O'Rourke Scott joined the board of Limerick Mental Health Association as Chair in July 2020.  Lisa is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.  She currently works as a Lecturer and researcher at Limerick Institute of Technology as well as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University.  Her teaching interests centre on the varied ways in which psychology can be understood and applied.  She has a particular interest in the changing and multiple ways in which mental health and distress can be interpreted and is keen to highlight the varied and varying experiences that people have of mental health and distress as well as to promote mental health advocacy.   

Lisa has previously worked in the voluntary and community sector as a counsellor, employment coach and facilitator of groups and workshops.  She has extensive experience of governance and of steering committees and groups.  Most recently she chaired the LIT standing committee on research ethics and was an elected member of Academic Council at LIT and the Board of Studies at the Open University. 

She is Principal investigator of the Genders and Sexualities research group (GSRG) at LIT, where she supervises postgraduate students and engages in commissioned research projects.

When she is not working in Limerick, she spends time in her home in Dingle, Co Kerry, where she enjoys music, good company, sea swimming and wonderful food.  

Laurence Garric
Secretary

Laurence Garric joined the board of Limerick Mental Health Association as Secretary in April 2023. Laurence works as an organisational consultant in the areas of positive organisation culture, focusing on employee retention, engagement and wellbeing, as well as continuous improvement of business processes.

With 15 years managing technical teams, Laurence has developed a strong background in client account management and process development in a reverse logistics environment. More recently, she has helped SMEs in project management, recruitment, professional training, and to develop structures to prepare for business growth. 

Laurence holds a Master's Degree in Business Management from the University of Limerick and a Green Belt in Lean and Six Sigma from the Atlantic Technological University Sligo. Laurence has a committed interest in positive mental health in everyday life and in the workplace, and appreciates the benefits of exercise, spending time outside, human connections and friendships, and taking time out to rest, reset and recentre. 

Laurence hopes to continue to support Limerick Mental Health Association and its board to develop its presence in Limerick City and County, while ensuring its governance policies and procedures are in place to support its growth.

Kate Healy
Treasurer

Kate joined the Board in March 2024. Kate is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor working with Deloitte in Limerick. Kate holds a BA Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick.

Kate is a keen yogi and travel enthusiast.She is delighted to volunteer as treasurer on the board of LMHA to support the brilliant work being done by the team and to use her skills and experience to manage the organization's finances responsibly. Kate believes that positive mental health is crucial at every stage of life and that it is essential that support and resources are easily accessible to everyone.

Morgan Mangan
Director, Strategy and Compliance

Morgan joined the board of LMHA in January 2021.  He is a Partner at international executive search firm Amrop where he focuses on board and senior executive appointments.  He holds a BA from NUI Galway, and an MBA from UCD’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.  Previously Morgan spent several years as an army officer spending time in the Middle East, Balkans and Africa.  Morgan will focus on the areas of strategy and compliance in his role on the LMHA board.  His interests include Munster rugby, sea swimming and hiking.

Therese Kavanagh
Digital Director

Therese joined the board of LMHA in April 2020. She has over 20 years experience designing and developing websites for SMEs with a strong focus on online user experience. She has also worked as an educator providing training to adults in the areas of website design & development and a wide range of creative software packages.

Therese aims to make Limerick Mental Health's digital presence as easy to use and accessible as possible and to develop the website, blog and social media channels into a trusted source for mental health related content. She also has a keen interest in the area of mental health and she welcomes the opportunity to help promote positive mental health to the people of Limerick and the Mid-West while also developing her own awareness of mental health issues and the work of non-profits. Therese also serves as a trusted advisor to the board on all matters relating to Digital.

Dave Burke
Director

Dave is a Director of PBC Builders, a 100% family owned construction business in Limerick originally founded by his father in 1979. Dave's connection with LMHA started when PBC Builders fundraised in aid of LMHA in 2023. His intention was to help his staff get together for something worthwhile and he  feels it is important to give back to people when you can.

Dave joined the Board of LMHA in April 2024  and has had a long time interest in educating himself and others about the importance of mental health within our community and within the workplace. He hopes to inspire and encourage others to do the same within their communities with a safe environment to share, support and grow LMHA.
