Each year on September 5th, the world celebrates the International Day of Charity, a reminder of the incredible power of giving, compassion, and community. At Limerick Mental Health Association (LMHA), we believe that charity is not just about donations, it’s about showing up for one another, offering time, support, and kindness to those who need it most.
This day, chosen in honour of Mother Teresa’s passing, is a global call to action, encouraging individuals, communities, and organisations to engage in acts of generosity, big or small, that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
At LMHA, we see the impact every day:
- A volunteer lending an ear can change someone’s week.
- A fundraiser helps us run vital programmes like peer support, art therapy, and mental health education.
- A shared conversation at a community event can break years of silence and isolation.
