Limerick Mental Health Association are currently seeking a volunteer Board Secretary.
We are looking for talented and conscientious volunteer board member to lead and strengthen the work of Limerick Mental Health Association.
Can you contribute your time, thoughtfulness, and leadership a few hours a month?
List of Duties
The Secretary will be required to provide duties in line with best practice. The Secretary is responsible for:
- Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted.
- Maintaining effective records and administration.
- Upholding the legal requirements of governing documents, charity law, company law etc (where relevant).
- Communication and correspondence

Be familiar with the filings required at the Companies Office for a CLG
- Be familiar with the filing requirements for the Charities Regulator#
- Be competent with taking board minutes
- Have knowledge of Google applications including docs, sheets and drives
- Be efficient and punctual with meeting deadlines
- Be competent in participating in board discussions on strategic matters
The Secretary regularly acts as an information and reference point for the Chair and other committee members:
- clarifying past practice and decisions;
- confirming legal requirements;
- and retrieving relevant documentation.
Personal skills required
- Ability to work as a member of the service team
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in line with best practice (confidentiality)
- Ensuring quorum is met for meetings
- Excellent note taking skills
- Ability to keep people informed of all relevant developments
- Work closely with Chairperson
- Summarise discussions effectively
