Hello Limerick!
On Wednesday, 15th May, LMHA staff and volunteers were delighted to take part in Mental Health Ireland’s national ‘Hello How Are You Campaign’. We set up our information and picture stands at Colbert Train Station and greeted the morning and evening commuters as they passed through the station.
The purpose of this campaign is to ask people how they are, and genuinely mean it. The premise is very simple but it allows us to connect with people in a more meaningful way.
In a world where conversations can often feel rushed or superficial, this campaign allows us to make more genuine connections with those around us.
We met some truly amazing individuals, and we want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with our volunteers or simply shared a friendly “hello”.
Through brief conversations, we gained invaluable insights into people’s lives, fostering beautiful connections with strangers that are often overlooked.
These individual’s openness and willingness to engage in dialogue about mental health contributes immensely to breaking down the stigma and creating a more supportive and understanding culture in the Limerick community.
A huge shoutout goes to St. Patrick’s National Girls School for their beautiful singing, and to Bus Eireann for generously providing transportation for the girls.
We would also like to thank everybody who volunteered with us on the day and Eric from P.B.C. Builders Ltd for creating a video capturing beautiful moments from the day. Watch it on their Instagram here!
The team at LMHA is grateful to have been a part of such a heartwarming and positive campaign, and we look forward to spreading more smiles and conversations through our upcoming events.
Together, we can make a difference, one hello at a time.
