Here is a little snippet of what to expect from the book
“It is with pleasure that we introduce this slim volume of stories, memoir, and poetry, written during the autumn of 2008, by members of the creative writing class organised by Le Cheile. Those of us who oversaw this group were impressed by the wealth and richness of the work of the participants, prompting the production of this anthology. The poetry and sharing of life experiences have impressed us, as often the contributions have been written against the odds.
Donal Ryan has spoken in his introduction about experiences of an author, and how the process of writing can act as a salvein in times of trouble. There is, indeed, a rich background in the Irish culture of short stories and poetry, pen pictures of life often written during periods of difficulty. Alongside the authors, Niamh, Ainna, and Lisa, encouraged by Sheila Quealey, former Le Cheile Creative Writing Teacher, and Claire, the Le Cheile Project Manager, all who contributed to the bringing of this anthology to completion. Against the background of the Creative Writing Course of the University of Limerick each of us has gained much from participating in this project.”
